  I)   SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME:-


SCHEMES IMPLEMENTED BY MINISTRY OF MINORITY AFFAIRS

  1. Pre-Matric Scholarship for Students belonging to National Minorities

    Description of the Scheme

    Students belonging to National Minorities (Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists, Christians,) receive financial assistance in the form of scholarship to pursue their pre-matric education.
    This scholarship is available for students studying in India only who have:
    - Secured a minimum of 50% marks in their previous exam
    - Awarded for class Ist -Xth
    - Income limit of parents/guardians is Rs. 1.00 Lacs per year

    Procedure

    The application forms are obtained from the DSWO/TSWO/Institution free of cost. The beneficiary /guardian of the applicant has to complete the application form and enclose proof regarding income status, address marks obtained and occupation. Complete case is to be submitted to the concerned head of the institution against proper receipt. The concerned head of the institution consolidates the list of eligible applicants under each scheme and forwards to the Zonal education officers who after recording necessary certificates on the list forwards the list to the Tehsil Social Welfare officer/District Social Welfare officer for scrutiny. The DSWO consolidates the list of eligible students and after recording necessary certificate(s) and forwards to the Director Social Welfare for arrangement of funds/ sanction.

    Note: The Ministry of Minority Affairs GOI has prescribed a fixed target for each state under Pre-matric/Post-matric/Merit-sum-means based scholarship schemes.

    * Hostellers include students who are staying in hostel of the school/institute concerned or those provided by the State Government/Union Territory Administration concerned.



  2. Post-Matric Scholarship for Students belonging to National Minorities

    Description of the Scheme

    This scholarship provides financial assistance to students belonging to minority communities studying at post matriculation or post-secondary stage to enable them to pursue higher education.
    - Available for students studying in India only having:
    - Secured a minimum of 50% in their previous exam
    - Income limit of parents/guardians is Rs. 2.0 Lakhs per year
    - It is awarded for other courses (XI-Ph.D.), not covered by MCM (merit cum means) scheme

    Procedure

    Application forms are available with the Head of Institute/District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) free of cost or on the website of the Ministry of Minority Affairs. Head of Institute will examine the application form of the eligible students after recording necessary certificates send it to the Chief Education Officer (CEO, up to 12th standard)/District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) (in case of graduation courses (beyond 12th standard)/Director Social Welfare Department (in case of students pursuing various courses outside the state). The DSWO/Head of the Institution after recording the necessary certificates shall forward the list as per the prescribed format to the Director Social Welfare department for onwards submission to the Administrative Department for accord of sanction and arrangement of funds from Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India

    Maintenance allowance for 10 months only in an academic year (Includes expenses for study material, etc.)

    (i) Classes XI and XII including technical and vocational courses of this level.

    (ii) Courses other than technical and professional courses at undergraduate and post graduate level

    Rs. 570/- p.m.

    Rs. 300/- p.m

    (iii) M. Phil and Ph.D.
    (For those researchers who are not awarded any fellowship by university or any other authority)

    * Hostellers include students who are not staying in hostel of the school/institute concerned but are staying as paying guest or in rented accommodation in towns/cities which are not the places where their parents reside.


  3. Matric cum Means Scholarship for Students belonging to National Minorities

    Description of the Scheme

    Students belonging to minority communities pursuing technical or professional courses at under graduate/post graduate level in an institution recognized by an appropriate authority are eligible to apply for grant of merit-cum means based scholarship.
    This scholarship is available for studies in India only and will be awarded through the Head of the Institution by the Social Welfare department.

    Eligibility

    - The student belongs to a Minority Community
    - The income limit of parents/guardians of Rs. 2.5 Lakhs per year. It is awarded only for specified professional and technical courses.
    - Students studying in institutes listed in the scheme (70 institutions) will be entitled for reimbursement of full course fee. Students studying in other recognized institutions will be entitled for reimbursement of a maximum course fee of Rs. 20,000/- per annum.
    - The scholarship is available for students studying in India only, provided they have secured minimum of 50% marks in their last qualifying exam (fresh cases) of minimum of 50% in their previous exam (renewal).
    - Renewal cases are given priority
    The students will have to register themselves online on www.scholarships.gov.in
    After registering online, the student is supposed to submit hard copy of the form along with income proof, marks obtained in last examination passed, proof of residence to the institution
